Other people can’t use an iPad as a laptop replacement at all and then there’s people like me, who use the iPad as their main driver but have a backup PC in the house. They don’t need multitasking or OS specific programs, just an iPad, a mouse and a keyboard and they feel like they have a laptop, with the added advantage of being able to turn it into a tablet when they just wanna chill and watch a movie. Why would they? The iPad can do all these things and some more without any issues whatsoever. I’ve never heard them wish to go back to a laptop. I have friends who just browse, consume media and write some documents here and there. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be at all. I feel like we need people to point out that the iPad cannot replace a laptop for everyone, because that is true and it counters the idea people seem to have that the iPad is a laptop replacement in general, which just sets a lot of people up for disappointment - because it’s not. Have a nice day and enjoy you future real laptop! If you are really keen on having an iPad then for productivity and ease of use sake's buy an M1 baseline MBA coupled with an entry level iPad it'll still be cheaper and even more so if you're a student (College discount is amazing). If you still plan on buy a $1000 tablet, plus $130 for Apple Pencil and another $300 for the keyboard just know that except if you're an artist it's truly not meant for you and for the same price you can get a MacBook Air that destroys it even just in benchmarks and battery life.Ĭoming from iPad to MacBook showed me what's important in a laptop, I could go on about other teased feature like 120Hz which all YouTubers are crazy about but is just a battery hog, frequently drops frames and makes all 60Hz display look out dated. Now look I know you're not here a the eulogy of a dead dream, but if you're that person thorn between an iPad or a Mac especially for college I'm here to shine a light :įor relatively the same price you get a full fledged machine with a great trackpad, macOS which has such productivity marvels (each iPad app is the fetus of the Mac app take for example Pages, Garageband or pretty much anything), where customization is the norm but is still a part of Apple ecosystem. Now if you want a bit of insight as why iPad Pro is a wast of money it's plain simple : from $1000 to $1350 depending if you buy the keyboard you are essentially going to get a big iPhone 12 that does exactly the same as the base $300 iPad.īeing as many of you hyped about iPad Pros and how it was revolutionary and could replace a computer, I laid the bills on it and bought what I now consider just blunt lies : iPadOS is iOS i.e an entertainment OS. I used to be an iPad lover : got my first one in 2018 (iPad 6 128) for high school then sold it to buy a sparkling new iPad Pro 11 256 for college last September. Let me go straight to the point then develop : iPad Pro is a waste of money and for the same price M1 is lightyears ahead. Thank you for reporting spam and other rule-breaking content.
